WINTER WHITE | remark magazine editorial & cover

i've been mostly doing off figure/still life editorials lately and for the longest time couldn't remember the last time i did a fashion editorial. i was even beginning to wonder if i would remember how to style one (so kidding! how could i forget?).

last month i was brought on to style the cover and editorial for remark magazine's november/december issue, just in time for the holiday season. the colour palette request was only white, red and gold. white came pretty easy, the red was a bit of a challenge but by far getting gold, and the right kind of gold, was tricky. often times when i do pulls i'm not always able to do so in person and my contacts will send me a selection of items based on the description i provide. the clothing was to be not too casual, more dresses, skirts and the like in solid colours, ideally no patterns and prints, so when i got a super shiny gold down filled hooded jacket from joe fresh i first thought "i LOVE this but it won't fit". but then i thought "i can make this fit! it's too awesome to leave behind" and decided to bring it with me to the shoot. and it ended up on the cover *fist pump*.

moral of the story: even if you're not sure that what you've pulled will fit the brief and the client will like it, as long as you like it and can make it work, always bring it with you.
